The first annual Women in Surgery Leadership Development Conference was held in 2017 with sponsorship from the Michigan Medicine Department of Surgery. The first conference focused on the theme of "Becoming Who You Want To Be", and featured a keynote speech from Julia Lee, PhD and discussions led by Janet Pinkerton Dombrowski, BSN, MHSA.
The second conference centered around the theme of "Leading From Your Best Self", and Reshma Jagsi, MD, DPhil was the keynote speaker. The 2018 Conference also featured a He for She track led by Michael Mulholland, MD, PhD and Justin Dimick, MD, MPH, in addition to a Resident Leadership track, led by Karin Hardiman, MD, PhD and Lynn Frydrych, MD. The annual Women in Surgery Leadership Development conference will continue with another conference in the fall of 2019.
